Care Worker's Policy
This policy outlines the criteria,
responsibilities, and conduct expected of EYEMATES Geriatric Care Workers
employed for home-based senior care services.
1. Programme
Implementation
The EYEMATES Geriatric
Care Service will be carried out by EYEMATES in association with the
People’s Welfare and Social Development Charitable Society (K-689/05).
The program ensures
that both organizations have the right to implement, monitor, and supervise the
work carried out by the geriatric care workers, safeguarding the client’s health and safety.
2. Qualification and Training
Requirements for Care Workers
- Qualifications:
Care workers should possess one of the
following or the above qualifications: General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM),
Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery (ANM), General Duty Assistant (GDA), and a Diploma in
Geriatric or Palliative Care. In the absence of these qualifications, individuals with
Pre-Degree Course (PDC)/Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC) with
experience in patient care, senior care, or palliative care can also be
considered.
- Training:
Selected care workers will undergo
training to ensure they are well-prepared for geriatric care responsibilities.
The training will include induction procedures, updates on healthcare
knowledge, and awareness of new healthcare policies within the government
system. Workers who are not pre-trained by EYEMATES will receive spot training
to meet the required standards.
3. Document
Requirements
All geriatric care
workers must submit the following documents before being considered for
assignments:

Police Clearance Certificate (PCC): A valid certificate
indicating no criminal history from your local Police Station.
·
Reference Letter: Issued by a Local Self Government Ward
Member, Municipal Councilor, President, Municipal Chairman, or Municipal
Chairperson, confirming that the worker has been known to them for many years
and has resided at the given address for more than six months.
·
ID Proof: A government-issued identification document
(Passport, Aadhar Card, Voter ID, etc.).
·
Qualification Certificate: Proof of relevant
qualifications for geriatric care work.
·
Experience Certificate: Proof of previous work experience in
geriatric or related care services.
·
Registration/License (if applicable): A copy of the
worker’s registration or professional license related to geriatric or
healthcare services.
The address mentioned
in the Police Clearance Certificate and Reference Letter must match the one on
the ID Proof.
4. Supply of Care Workers
EYEMATES will prioritize supplying care
workers who have been previously trained by EYEMATES and are listed on the
approved trained worker’s list. In cases where no trained worker is available,
EYEMATES may consider other workers meeting the educational qualifications
listed above. These workers will receive spot training to ensure they meet the
program’s requirements and adhere to EYEMATES’ standards.
5. Assignment and
Employment
·
Need
Assessment: No
work will be assigned until the specific needs of the client are assessed and
confirmed by EYEMATES.
·
Short-term
Assignments: All
work assignments are temporary and should be considered short-term target-based
engagements, not permanent employment.
·
Remuneration: An official email will be sent to the
Care Worker before each assignment, detailing the specific responsibilities
and the agreed-upon remuneration.
·
Assignment
Document: Each
assignment for personalised care work shall be documented in an Assignment
Document, which must be signed by both the Care Worker and the
Supervisor/Manager. This document will specify the duties assigned, start and
end dates, the status of the assignment upon completion, and the reason for its
conclusion. The Assignment Document shall be retained in the Care Worker’s file alongside the signed Agreement. No Assignment Document shall be
required for services such as Hospital Assistance, Outdoor Companionship or
Part-Time Services.

Duty
Modifications:
Any addition or elimination of duties during the assignment must be reported to
the Nursing Supervisor and documented accordingly.
6. Remuneration
Packages
·
Home
Care worker Day & Night : Up to ₹24,000/month
·
Home
Care worker Day Only: Up to ₹20,000/ month
·
Home
Care – Daily Wages (Less than one completed month): Up to ₹1,000/day
·
Hospital/Outdoor
Companionship: Up to ₹1,200/day + DA.
An Assignment
document is required for Home care work ‘Day & Night’ or ‘Day/Night’. No
Assignment Document shall be required for services such as Hospital Assistance,
Outdoor Companionship or Part-Time Services.
Remuneration and work
hours will be specified in the assignment document. However, care workers are
expected to be flexible with their remuneration and work hours, as these may
vary depending on the client’s requirements.
7. Monitoring and
Supervision

Nursing Supervisor Oversight: Every assignment
will be monitored by a Nursing Supervisor authorized by EYEMATES. The care
worker is required to follow the instructions provided by the supervisor.

Daily Reporting: Care workers must report to the supervisor
daily via phone or video conference. Failure to report will result in negative
remarks on their record.
8. Conduct and Client
Interaction
·
Client Dignity: Workers must behave respectfully and professionally, upholding the dignity of the client and their family at
all times.
·
Complaint Policy: Any complaints from clients or their
families will be taken seriously. Negative remarks will be recorded if a
complaint is substantiated.
·
Termination Policy: Accumulation of more than three negative
remarks will result in termination of the worker’s assignments.
9. Legal and
Monitoring Provisions
·
Supervision Rights: EYEMATES reserves the right to monitor and
supervise care workers at any time to ensure the safety and well-being of
clients.
·
Legal Violations: Any violation of Indian law (IPC) by the
worker will be reported to the police, and the assignment will be terminated
immediately without prior notice.
·
Agreement: Workers must sign a one-time tripartite
agreement with EYEMATES and the People’s Welfare and Social Development
Charitable Society (K-689/05)
at the initial stage of employment.
- Applicability of Agreement: This agreement is applicable only
when the Care Worker is actively assigned to an assignment and performing
their duties. Once the Care Worker has completed or been discontinued from
the assignment, and if they do not agree to any new assignment, the rules
outlined in this agreement will no longer apply to them. However, any
implications of noncompliance or misconduct during the assignment period
will continue to be enforceable and applicable even after the assignment
has ended.
10. Reporting to
Authorities
When required, a copy
of the agreement, along with the worker’s details and submitted certificates
(including registration/license, if applicable), will be provided to the local
police station and/or Local Self Government to comply with regulatory
standards.
All care
workers are requested to adhere to this policy to ensure the well-being,
dignity, and quality of life of the elders we serve. By upholding these
guidelines, we strive to provide compassionate, respectful, and professional
