Connecting Future Campaign

Awareness Programme on Cyber Hygiene at St. Peter's HSS, Kumpanadam, Changanachery

As part of Eyemates Foundation’s Connecting Future – Uniting Generations for a Sustainable Future campaign, a Blood Donation Camp was successfully conducted on 3rd December 2025 at the O.L.L.H.S.S Auditorium, Uzhavoor. The programme was organised in association with the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of O.L.L.H.S.S, Uzhavoor, and the Blood Bank, District General Hospital, Kottayam.

The camp commenced at 9.00 a.m. with an inaugural function. The programme was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Albin, Manager of O.L.L.H.S.S, Uzhavoor, by lighting the traditional lamp, symbolising compassion, service and social responsibility. NSS volunteers, school authorities, representatives from Eyemates Foundation and healthcare professionals from the District General Hospital were present during the inauguration.

The primary objective of the blood donation camp was to promote voluntary blood donation, create awareness on the importance of safe blood availability and encourage youth participation in life-saving humanitarian activities. The medical team from the Blood Bank, District General Hospital, Kottayam ensured proper screening, counselling, and safe blood collection procedures in accordance with standard medical guidelines.

A total of 76 individuals participated in the camp, out of which 40 donors successfully donated blood. NSS volunteers played a key role in coordinating registrations, guiding donors, and assisting the medical team, ensuring smooth and disciplined conduct of the programme.

Awareness Programme on Cyber Hygiene at St. Peter's HSS, Kumpanadam, Changanachery

Awareness Programme on “Understanding Cyber Hygiene” conducted at St. Peter’s HSS, Kurumbanadom on 17th November 2025 at 01:30 PM as part of the EYEMATES FOUNDATION’s Connecting Future – Uniting Generations for a Sustainable Future campaign. The session aimed to create awareness among students about safe digital practices, responsible online behaviour, and the importance of protecting personal information in the digital era.

The session was led by Mr. Shiju John, Social Worker and Director of Eyemates Foundation, who delivered an interactive and insightful class. He explained the growing relevance of cyber safety in students’ daily lives, highlighting common online risks, responsible social media usage, and practical steps to ensure digital security. The session also addressed issues such as cyberbullying, digital addiction, and responsible sharing of personal data.

A total of 38 Higher Secondary students actively participated in the programme. The students engaged enthusiastically through discussions, scenario-based activities, and questions, reflecting their eagerness to learn and adopt safe online habits.

Breast Cancer Awareness Programme in association with MUM hospital, Monippally

As part of Eyemates Foundation’s Connecting Future – Uniting Generations for a Sustainable Future campaign, a Breast Cancer Awareness Programme was conducted on 27th October 2025 at Sree Bhadra Auditorium, Uzhavoor, in association with M.U.M Hospital, Monippally. The session aimed to empower women with essential knowledge on early detection, prevention, and self-examination practices related to breast cancer.

The awareness class was led by Dr. Dhanya Paul, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, M.U.M Hospital, who delivered an informative and engaging session. She highlighted the importance of regular self-examination, recognising early symptoms, and the role of timely medical consultation. Participants were also introduced to the steps of breast self-examination and the significance of screening methods such as mammography.

A total of 39 Anganwadi staff and women from the community attended the programme. The participants actively listened, asked questions, and expressed appreciation for the practical and easy-to-understand information shared during the session.

Mental Health Awareness Programme at SK Gov HSS, Neendoor, Kottayam

The Eyemates Foundation organized a Mental Health Awareness session titled “Disconnect to Reconnect” at SK Government HSS, Neendoor on 24th October 2025 at 2.00 pm. The initiative formed part of the Connecting Future – Uniting Generations for a Sustainable Future campaign, aiming to guide students toward healthier emotional habits and more mindful engagement with digital media.

Supported by IUCDS – Mahatma Gandhi University, the programme brought together a large group of students for an interactive and reflective session. Facilitators led the discussion through relatable examples, storytelling, and real-life scenarios that helped students understand how screen time, stress, and emotional overload can affect their daily functioning.

99 students listened attentively and took part in short exercises and open discussions that encouraged them to think about their digital routines, emotional reactions, and the importance of seeking support when needed.

Mental Health Awareness Programme at Gov HSS, Kallara, Kottayam

The Mental Health Awareness Programme titled “Disconnect to Reconnect” was conducted at Government Higher Secondary School, Kallara on 24th October 2025 as part of Eyemates Foundation’s Connecting Future – Uniting Generations for a Sustainable Future campaign. The session aimed to help students understand emotional wellbeing, promote healthy digital habits, and develop simple coping skills to manage everyday stress.

Organized by the Eyemates Foundation in collaboration with the school and supported academically by IUCDS – Mahatma Gandhi University, the programme engaged students through interactive activities and discussions focused on responsible technology use and mental balance.

A total of 25 students participated (please confirm the count if needed), actively contributing to group conversations and responding enthusiastically to the facilitator’s guidance on emotional regulation and mindful digital behaviour.

Mental Health Awareness Programme at Gov HSS, Kanakkary, Kottayam

The Mental Health Awareness Programme titled “Disconnect to Reconnect” was conducted at Government Higher Secondary School, Kanakkary on 22nd October 2025 as part of Eyemates Foundation’s Connecting Future – Uniting Generations for a Sustainable Future campaign. The initiative aimed to help students understand emotional well-being, develop healthy digital habits, and strengthen their ability to cope with everyday stress.

The session was organized in collaboration with the NSS unit of the school and supported by IUCDS – Mahatma Gandhi University. A total of 47 students participated and engaged actively in the discussions, which focused on balancing technology use, recognising early signs of emotional distress, and adopting simple strategies for maintaining mental wellness.

Mental Health Awareness Programme at Gov HSS, Areepparambu, Manarcadu, Kottayam

The Mental Health Awareness Programme titled “Disconnect to Reconnect” was conducted at Government Higher Secondary School, Areepparampu, Manarcadu on 21st October 2025 as part of the Connecting Future – Uniting Generations for a Sustainable Future campaign by Eyemates Foundation in collaboration with IUCDS–MGU. The session aimed to help students recognise the value of mental well-being and to promote mindful, balanced use of digital devices.

A total of 30 students attended the programme. The session featured interactive discussions, group tasks, and guided reflections that helped students identify stress factors linked to excessive screen use and explore healthier emotional coping strategies.

Mental Health Awareness Programme at Gov SS, Karipputhatta, Arppookkaram, Kottayam

A mental health awareness session titled “Disconnect to Reconnect” was held at Government High School, Karipputhitta, Arpookkara on 21st October 2025 at 9.00 am. The programme was part of the ongoing Connecting Future – Uniting Generations for a Sustainable Future campaign launched by Eyemates Foundation, in association with IUCDS, Mahatma Gandhi University.

The session was attended by 34 students, who were introduced to the basics of emotional well-being and the influence of digital habits on their day-to-day functioning. The aim was to help adolescents understand the need for balance between online engagement and real-life interactions.

Facilitators from Eyemates Foundation and IUCDS–MGU led the session using simple explanations, practical examples, and interactive discussions. The photographs attached reflect a highly attentive group of students and a facilitator who kept the session engaging throughout.

Mental Health Awareness Programme at St. Sebastian's HSS, Ayarkunnam, Kottayam

The Mental Health Awareness Programme titled “Disconnect to Reconnect” was conducted at St Sebastian’s Higher Secondary School, Ayarkunnam on 18th October 2025 at 10.00 am, as part of the Connecting Future – Uniting Generations for a Sustainable Future campaign initiated by Eyemates Foundation. The programme was organized in collaboration with IUCDS, Mahatma Gandhi University, and the NSS Unit of the school.

A total of 77 students participated in the interactive session, which focused on promoting emotional well-being and helping adolescents understand the effects of prolonged screen time and digital dependency.

The session was facilitated by the professional team and volunteers from Eyemates Foundation and IUCDS–MGU. Photographs from the programme show active participation and meaningful engagement from both students and facilitators.

Mental Health Awareness Programme at PTM Gov HSS, Pampady, Kottayam

The Mental Health Awareness Programme titled “Disconnect to Reconnect” was conducted at PTM Government Higher Secondary School, Pampady on 17th October 2025, as part of the Connecting Future – Uniting Generations for a Sustainable Future campaign initiated by Eyemates Foundation. The programme was organized in collaboration with IUCDS, M.G. University and the NSS Unit of the school.

A total of 45 students participated in the interactive session, which focused on promoting emotional well-being among adolescents and helping them understand the impact of excessive screen time and digital dependency in daily life.

The session was facilitated by the professional team and volunteers from Eyemates Foundation and IUCDS-MGU. Photographs from the event reflect active student involvement and the presence of facilitators who led discussions and activities.

Mental Health Awareness Programme at Go VHSS, Thrikkothamangalam, Kottayam

The Mental Health Awareness Programme titled “Disconnect to Reconnect” was conducted at Government VHSS, Thrikothamangalam on 17th October 2025 as part of the Connecting Future – Uniting Generations for a Sustainable Future campaign by Eyemates Foundation. The initiative aimed to promote emotional well-being among school students and encourage balanced digital habits in the modern age.

A total of 32 students participated in the interactive session, which focused on understanding the challenges of mental health in the digital era. The programme was facilitated by a team of professionals and volunteers from Eyemates Foundation and IUCDS, M.G. University, supported by the NSS unit of the school.

Key highlights of the programme included:

  • Engaging discussions on stress, screen addiction, and emotional balance.
  • Awareness on self-care, positive coping mechanisms, and healthy digital boundaries.

Eye Testing Camp in association with Chaithanya Eye Care Hospital, Kottayam

The Free Eye Testing Camp held at St. Joseph’s Training College, Mannanam on 14th October 2025 marked an important initiative under Eyemates Foundation’s Connecting Future – Uniting Generations for a Sustainable Future campaign. The programme aimed to promote eye health awareness and ensure early detection of vision problems among students and staff.

The camp was coordinated by the volunteers of Eyemates Foundation and the college NSS unit, with the technical support of trained optometrists and health professionals of Chaithanya Eye Care Hospital, Kottayam. Sixty Five (65) number of students, faculty members and non-teaching staff actively participated and availed of the free vision screening services.

Key highlights of the programme included:

  • Free visual acuity testing and consultation for students and staff.
  • Health awareness discussions on the importance of regular eye check-ups.
  • Personalized advice on eye care, digital screen usage, and preventive measures.
  • Identification and referral of cases requiring further clinical evaluation.

The event also strengthened the partnership between academic institutions and social development organizations, fostering youth participation in health promotion activities.

The Free Eye Testing Camp served as both a service and learning platform-enhancing awareness about eye health while motivating students to contribute toward a healthier and more socially responsible community.  

Awareness programme at OLL HSS, Uzhavoor in association with MUM Hospital, Monippally

On 27th September 2025, the Voluntary Blood Donation Awareness Programme was organized at OLLHSS Hall, Uzhavoor, by EYEMATES FOUNDATION FOR RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT, in association with the NSS Unit of OLLHSS and MUM Hospital, Monippally. The event gathered 71 NSS volunteers to learn about the life-saving importance of blood donation.

The technical session on “Blood Donation: A Gift of Life” was led by Dr. Rebida Senam (MBBS, MS, DNB, Consultant Ophthalmologist), who emphasized the medical and social significance of blood donation, dispelled myths, and encouraged students to become regular donors.

  • An informative session on the safety, process, and need for voluntary blood donation.
  • Interactive discussions where students clarified doubts and heard real-life experiences.
  • Motivation for NSS volunteers to act as youth advocates for blood donation.
  • Conducted as part of “Connecting Future – Uniting Generations for a Sustainable Future”, Eyemates Foundation’s marathon awareness campaign.

The session inspired students to view blood donation as a noble social responsibility and created awareness about its role in saving lives. The active participation of 71 NSS volunteers reinforced the spirit of compassion, service, and community commitment. 

Awareness programme at OLL HSS, Uzhavoor in association with BCM College, Kottayam

On 24th September 2025, the Emotional Resilience Awareness Programme was organized at OLLHSS Hall, Uzhavoor, by EYEMATES FOUNDATION FOR RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT, in collaboration with the NSS Unit of OLLHSS and the Department of Social Work, BCM College, Kottayam. The event brought together 60 NSS volunteers for an interactive session led by Ms. Maneesha Sunder, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Social Work, BCM College.

The programme was inaugurated by Sri. Thankachan (President, Uzhavoor Gram Panchayath), with the ceremonial lamp lit by the Principal of OLLHSS, symbolizing the collective commitment to youth empowerment and mental well-being.

Key highlights of the programme included:

  • A technical session on “Understanding Emotional Resilience: Concept and Importance” combining lecture, real-life examples, and group activities.
  • Role-plays and reflective exercises, where volunteers explored coping strategies and peer support.
  • Active participation of 60 NSS volunteers, fostering teamwork, empathy, and resilience-building skills.
  • Integration of the session as part of “Connecting Future – Uniting Generations for a Sustainable Future”, Eyemates Foundation’s marathon awareness campaign.

The session deepened students’ understanding of emotional resilience and strengthened collaboration between academic institutions, local governance, and Eyemates Foundation. It marked an impactful step in preparing young volunteers to face challenges with confidence and compassion.

Educational Assistance and Drug Awareness Programme

EDU HELP programme in Association with KTDNP+ at Kottayam

On 28th May 2025, the EYEMATES EDU HELP Programme was successfully conducted in Kottayam by EYEMATES FOUNDATION FOR RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT, in collaboration with KTDNP+ (Kottayam District Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS). The event, supported by De Care Vincentian Social Services and KSFE, extended educational assistance to 50 children affected by HIV/AIDS.

The programme was presided over by Dr. Suresh, RCH Officer, District Hospital Kottayam, and inaugurated by Dr. Vidyadaran, Deputy District Medical Officer, Kottayam. Other distinguished speakers included Dr. Akhila C.S. (Medical Officer, ART Centre), Mr. Shiju John (Chairman, Eyemates Foundation), Mr. Ousepachan Antony (Technical Advisor, Eyemates Foundation), Fr. George Pallikkamyalil VC, and Br. Alan Thankachan (De Care Vincentian Social Services).

Key highlights of the programme included:

  • Distribution of Educational Kits: 50 children received school bags, umbrellas, and notebooks — collectively sponsored by EYEMATES FOUNDATION, KSFE, and De Care Vincentian Social Services.
  • Drug Awareness Session: Mr. Saji Pathiyil, Retired Sub-Inspector of Police, conducted an engaging session on the harmful effects of substance abuse, followed by a collective anti-drug pledge by students and parents.
  • Community Collaboration: The event saw enthusiastic participation from healthcare professionals, social workers, educators, and civil society members, reinforcing the power of joint efforts in community upliftment.

The programme aimed to promote education, instill healthy values, and support socially and economically marginalized children. The educational support not only relieved families from financial burdens but also inspired hope and a sense of inclusion among the young beneficiaries.

This meaningful event showcased EYEMATES FOUNDATION’s dedication to inclusive education and child welfare, leaving a lasting impact on all participants.

Mental Health Awareness

Session on "Mental Health: Addressing Stigma and Promoting Wellness" at BVM College, Cherpunkal, Kottayam

On 18th December 2024, an awareness class on mental health was conducted at BVM College, Cherpunkal, Kottayam. The session, organized by the Women and Child Development Department, Kottayam, saw the active participation of 50 students.

 

Adv. Shijo M John, a Consulting Social Worker and Chairman of the People’s Welfare & Social Development Charitable Society, led the program. The session focused on the theme “Reducing Stigma, Understanding Mental Wellness, and Resources for Help,” emphasizing the significance of mental health in daily life.

Key topics covered included:

  • Defining Mental Health: Understanding emotional, psychological, and social well-being.
  • Addressing Stigma: Dispelling myths and encouraging factual awareness to eliminate discrimination.
  • Common Mental Health Issues: Highlighting prevalent disorders like anxiety, depression, and PTSD.
  • Solutions and Support: Promoting self-care practices, seeking professional help, and using resources like the DISHA helpline (1056).

The interactive session enabled participants to explore the causes, impacts, and solutions for mental health challenges. It concluded with a call to action, inspiring students to advocate for mental health awareness and contribute to a stigma-free society.

This impactful session reinforced the importance of integrating mental health awareness into educational and community settings, leaving a lasting impression on all participants.

World AIDS Day Observance - 2024

Session on "The Role of NSS Volunteer Nurses in HIV Prevention" at Caritas College of Nursing, Kottayam

On 11th December 2024, Caritas Nursing College, Kottayam, organized an impactful program as part of the World AIDS Day Observance, highlighting the role of NSS Volunteer Nurses in HIV prevention. The event, hosted under the auspices of the NSS Unit, focused on raising awareness, promoting education, and encouraging community engagement to combat HIV/AIDS effectively.

A key feature of the program was the inauguration of the Red Ribbon Club by the Vice Principal, Prof. Sr. Lisy John, who emphasized the collective responsibility of healthcare professionals in addressing HIV-related challenges. The program began with a warm welcome address by Ms. Anu Joseph, Assistant Professor and NSS Programme Officer, who motivated the audience to take active steps in their communities.

The session was enriched by an interactive talk delivered by Mr. Shiju John, Consulting Social Worker and founder of EYEMATES. Drawing from his vast experience, Mr. John shed light on the critical role of nursing professionals in HIV prevention. He elaborated on preventive strategies, the importance of breaking stigma, and how nurses can effectively contribute to community health through outreach and education.

The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 30 NSS Volunteer Nursing Students, who showcased their commitment to creating an HIV-aware society. Through interactive discussions, practical examples, and group activities, the program empowered these future healthcare leaders to take proactive roles in promoting safe practices and addressing misconceptions about HIV/AIDS.

This initiative underscored the indispensable role of NSS Volunteer Nurses in fostering a more informed and compassionate society, positioning them as key advocates for health and inclusion. Their dedication reflects a vital step toward achieving an HIV-free community through education, awareness, and action.

Gender Sensitization Programmes

Gov HSS, Karappuzha - Empowering Youth for Equality

On October 18, 2024, EYEMATES conducted an impactful gender awareness session for 50 NSS volunteer students at Government Higher Secondary School (Gov HSS), Karappuzha, Kottayam. The session was led by Mr. Shiju John, Consultant Social Worker and representative of EYEMATES, along with the support of key officials including the program coordinator and a gender specialist. Together, they facilitated thought-provoking discussions on breaking gender stereotypes and fostering inclusivity.

Key Topics Covered:

  • Impact of Gender Stereotypes: Students engaged in meaningful discussions about how stereotypes shape attitudes and behaviours from a young age, often limiting potential and reinforcing biases.
  • Gender-Sensitive Teaching Practices: The importance of teaching practices that respect and empower all genders was emphasized, encouraging students to understand how a supportive learning environment benefits everyone.
  • Educators’ Role in Challenging Biases: The session highlighted educators’ role as key influencers who can model inclusivity and guide students in overcoming unconscious biases, fostering a fair and equitable school culture.

NSS Training College, Changanachery, Kerala

On 19th August 2024, a gender sensitization program was held at NSS Training College, Changanachery, organized by the Women and Child Development Department, Kottayam. The session was presided over by the Principal of the college and was attended by 50 students.

The awareness program was led by Mr. Shiju John, Consultant Social Worker from EYEMATES, who guided the participants through key aspects of gender equality and the importance of sensitization in education. The session was further supported by the attendance of key officials, including the program coordinator and a gender specialist, who contributed to the discussions.

During the session, topics such as the impact of gender stereotypes, the need for gender-sensitive teaching practices, and the role of educators in challenging biases were thoroughly explored.

The event concluded with a strong call to action, encouraging students and faculty to actively engage in fostering an inclusive educational environment. The program highlighted the crucial role of educators in promoting gender equality and the broader impact of such initiatives on society.

St. Joseph Training College, Mannanam, Kerala

On 13th August 2024, a gender sensitization awareness program was conducted at St. Joseph Training College, Mannanam, organized by the Women and Child Development Department, Kottayam. The session, presided over by the Principal, saw active participation from 50 students.

First Anniversary and New Office Opening

It’s been a year since EYEMATES launched with office systems. The speciality is moving into its building as we celebrate the anniversary on 4th June 2022.

EYEMATES, an organization that works with the idea of providing professional assistance to community development activities, also plays an important role in digitalizing the village by providing online services in the village of Piusmount through the “Eyemates Utility Hub”. EYEMATES is led by social workers who have earned a master’s degree in social work and have been in professional social work for over fifteen years. EYEMATES provides technical assistance to more than 50 voluntary organizations. In addition, individual counselling is provided, both directly and indirectly, to the various institutions as needed.

“Eyemates Utility Hub” is an online public service project provided by EYEMATES in rural areas. This was done on an experimental basis at Piusmount. It should be noted that this project is moving forward with the acceptance of the people towards it. Through this, various government and non-government online services are being provided to computer-literate and ordinary people from 5 pm to 9 pm without losing their livelihood.

Various Bills (Electricity Bill, Water Bill, Phone Bill, Vehicle Insurance, Life Insurance), Land Tax, Building Tax, Various Village Certificates, Marriage / Birth / Death Certificates, PAN Card, Passport, Ration Card Services, PCC (Police Clearance Certificate) and Photostat (colour / black & white), computer print (colour / black & white), scanning, lamination and mobile / TV recharges are also available here. EYEMATES provides specialized guidance and professional assistance to students for preparing project work and job seekers for professionally preparing their bio-data.

HIV/AIDS Awareness Programme

An awareness programme on HIV/AIDS was conducted as part of the world AIDS day observance at Government ITI, Ettumanoor on 7th day of December 2021. The event was jointly organized by the ART unit, Department of Medicine, Kottayam Medical College and EYEMATES social work Agency. As part of this, ART counsellors Mr. Shiju John and Mr. Aby Jose gave an awareness class on HIV/AIDS. In the ensuing discussion, the children’s doubts were answered. Thirty students representing various sections participated. December 1 is observed as world AIDS day and this is followed by a month long awareness programme. The ART center in Medicine Department is under the control of the Kerala State AIDS Control Society for the treatment of HIV infected people. EYEMATES is a social work agency for community developments. Through EYEMATES, technical assistance is being provided to various NGOs in community development activities.

World Environment Day 2021

The world environment day was observed by eyemates on 5th June 2021 at the premises of its office.  respected ward member of uzhavoor gramapanchayath, Smt. Anju P Benny, laid the tree in the Mankuzhy Junction. The neighbor people participated in the programme with keeping covid protocol 

Office Inaugration

Eyemates office is started to function  on 29th April 2021. The function inaugurated by Honorable President of Uzhavoor Gramapanchayath, by lightening lamp. Ward members and the near by stakeholders were participated. The function were carried out strictly followed by the COVID Protocol.
